A Gentle Bridge from Infancy to Toddlerhood
Our Young Toddler Program (12-24 months) at Playful Scholars is designed to provide a gentle transition between infancy and toddlerhood. Children are encouraged to develop new skills at their own pace while becoming increasingly independent in a warm, nurturing classroom.
Our caring teachers begin introducing group experiences such as circle time, songs, movement, stories, and age-appropriate activities that help prepare children for the next stage of their academic and social-emotional development.
Learn More About Young Toddler CareGrowing Skills at Their Own Pace
Between ages one and two, children change quickly — first words, steadier steps, and a growing desire to do things "all by myself." Our Young Toddler classroom honors that growth with routines and activities that balance the comfort of infancy with the excitement of toddlerhood. Teachers offer gentle encouragement as children practice new skills, explore materials, and build confidence.
Each classroom is designed for safe exploration, featuring bright colors, soft surfaces, and developmentally appropriate materials that invite movement and imagination. With patience, warmth, and consistency, our caregivers create an environment where every child feels valued, understood, and excited to learn something new each day.
First Group Experiences
This classroom begins introducing group experiences such as circle time, songs, movement, and stories. These shared moments help children learn to participate, take turns, and enjoy learning alongside friends — important preparation for the next stage of their academic and social-emotional development. Group time is always short, playful, and matched to young toddlers' attention spans, so every child can join in successfully.
Language & Early Communication
This is one of the most exciting stages for language development! Our teachers model new words, read aloud, and use songs, rhymes, and conversation to help young toddlers express themselves. As children begin naming objects and forming first words and phrases, we celebrate their progress with gentle praise and patience. These daily interactions strengthen vocabulary, listening skills, and confidence in self-expression.
Independence & Problem-Solving
Young toddlers are eager to do more on their own, and we encourage that growing independence every day. Teachers support children as they practice self-help skills, solve simple problems, and make choices during play. Movement activities build coordination and gross motor strength, while positive relationships with consistent caregivers give children the security they need to explore bravely and try new things.
Partnering with Families for Every Milestone
We know that parents want to stay connected during their child’s day, especially at this exciting age. That’s why we use Lillio, a secure parent app that allows you to receive updates, photos, and notes in real time. You’ll always know what your young toddler is learning, eating, and achieving — giving you peace of mind and shared joy in every milestone.
Safety remains our top priority. Our classrooms are equipped with age-appropriate toys and soft flooring for safe movement, while teachers maintain a close eye on every child. Only authorized parents and staff have access to the facility, ensuring your child’s safety at all times. Our goal is to create an environment that feels as loving and dependable as home — a true partnership between families and teachers.
